National Women’s Golf Alliance, LLC 2012 - 2017
The National Women’s Golf Alliance united three highly respected women’s golf organizations -- the EWGA, Golf for Cause LLC, and Jan Bel Jan Golf Course Design. The mission of the NWGA was to increase the number of women playing golf and engagement levels of existing women golfers. Using their combined years of expertise, data and observation regarding what women golfers want, need and expect for an enhanced playing experience, the NWGA developed a base of standards and best practices to help golf facilities attract more women golfers and generate more revenue. The NWGA certification program assessed golf facilities on standards and best practices that make golf facilities welcoming and attractive to women. Facilities were evaluated in five key areas: Golf Course Playability, Customer Service, Golf Course Amenities, Facility Amenities and Golf Programs. Facilities that achieved a score of 80 percent or higher in at least three of these areas received certification. Among facilities evaluated by NWGA were PGA Golf Club, Innisbrook Resort and Reynolds Plantation. As a partner in the National Women's Golf Alliance, Jan used her experience as a golf course architect to evaluate courses for playability by the female golfer, from excellent to "bogey-plus" players. Ms. Bel Jan analyzed courses with regard to length and layout of individual golf holes as well as topography and hazards, and she offered refinements that could improve pace of play and allow playability fairness for a wider range of skill levels. Jan continues to assess courses for function, fun, maintenance considerations, keeping golfers in the game, and attracting new golfers to the game, including women, families, novices and slow clubhead speed players. |
